Property investment: Why is it the right time ?
Rex Vietnam was at Park Hyatt on July 12th for the conference “Top trends that will shape 2018 and beyond” organized by JLL. This conference was a good way to assess the market and current trends in real estate.
Contractors, promoters, estate agents, architects all were in the same room to have an in-depth assessment of the market and a better understanding of the market current and future trends.
In a previous article, we already saw the the current Vietnamese investment frame is favorable. Good news, it is also the right timing.
Here is why:
Vietnam’s economy is strengthening year after year, with a GDP growth averaging 6 to 7% every year since 2012. The Vietnamese index rising by 24% between 2017 and mid-2018.
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) still heavily support the real estate market, representing 27% of the total FDI in the country. This signal that foreign investors still consider Vietnam’s real estate market as a market with a lot of potential for investment.
And there is still a lot of room for improvement.

- The rental rate keeps increasing over the year. Between 2013 and Quarter 2 of 2018, the average rent (USD/SQM/Month) rose by 9% from $37.6 to $42.3.
- Investment demand under foreign title is superior to the current available offer available. Therefore, prices keep increasing over the years and capital gain opportunities is strong.
